Our mission is to transmit through the simple yet monumental acts of cooking and eating an appreciation of Latin American culture, the importance of edible biodiversity, and the necessity of small scale and ecological food producers. Across the Americas we hope to create intimate dining experiences, spaces for celebration and nourishment in the form of creative, artful cuisine.

Noche Criolla Dinner with The Yrala Sisters

Saturday, August 22nd

Leyla and Ximena Yrala, sisters from Lima,  have been leading a culinary revival in The Rockaways. First with some of the best fish in town at La Cevicheria and now with Chicks-To-Go hailed by The New York Times as having an “excellent marriage” of flavors.  This dinner will showcase their talents on the grill and be matched with music that will get your grooving.

Our Neighbors: No School – Art Projects for Kids Lead by Artists

Starting August 10th

Next door to The Palms, for the month of August, The Perfect Nothing Catalog will be working with Arts in Parts to create NO SCHOOL, a series of workshops & projects designed and lead by artist from The Perfect Nothing Catalog. While the kids create, parents can enjoy a break under The Palms.

Monday August 10, 1pm-5pm

PEWTER SCULPTURES IN THE SAND with W​ill Stewart-
Will will lead students in making molds in the wet sand and pouring a pewter cast. Students will leave the workshop with their pewter sculpture and will work as a group to make a large piece for our gallery show.

Wednesday August 12, 1pm-5pm

DRIFTWOOD MOBILES with​Abel Macias-​
Abel will lead students in making mobiles from collected driftwood and beach debris from Dead Horse Bay. Students will leave the workshop with their own mobile to be hung at home and will work as a group to make a large piece for our gallery show.

Monday August 17, 1pm-5pm

KITE MAKING with C​hris Wegman
Chris Wegman will lead students in exploring the forms and functions of traditional kites before designing and building our own. We will be experimenting with materials and construction, creating kites to fly from the boardwalk. All participants will leave with their own kite to keep and will work together to create a large kite for our gallery presentation.
